sorry guys, we were knocked out last week by the salt water anglers for the runing of biggest fish,

both fresh water and salt water anglers are raising the bar for high scores in their divisions.... (the compitition is grouling,,,) GOTTA LOVE IT

if you havent entered yet there is still time to get in on the action...

one angler has caught 2 state reconized award entries already this year. another angler has caught a multitude of species, (you wont beleive what he has entered)

check out the action then get in on it... Its a blast and all the contestants enjoy the compitition....

I know it's too late to change the rules for this year. Perhaps on next years competition there could be 1 bonus point for every fish over the 16 total species.

Last year we had the most species clasification, "lonehunter" took that honor

we like to change the rules of the game every year, there is no telling what next year will bring.

if this site turns in to a gold mine we might have solid gold bass rods to play for

Freshwater moves back in the lead for Biggest fish (longest) you wont belive the species nor would you beleive who brought it in... The biggest fish just keeps growing inch by inch...

yours truly closes the gap for 3 place in the freshwater division.

Well that clown is still holding first place for the biggest fish!

you will never guess who has moved up in first place for the fresh water division. the fresh water division is running gill and gill!!! with just 5 points differance from first place to third place....

Our salt water dude is holding his own, scores of points ahead of the nerest competitor... but I hear that there are some salty dowgs with some pic's on film waiting to be developed.... and yet others who have not made it out to the great pond yet....

with 7 months to go its any body's game... Dont wait till the last day to start entering! you can always upgrade your species if you catch a bigger one....

Did you finally get that elusive Northern? I'm off today despite my cough and sniffles and expected rain. I hear the cats are biting and I've gotta catch me a carp or two to add 20+ inches to my score. Plus I've gotta get that 30+ inch Northern that keeps getting off of everybody else's hooks where I caught the one I post.

no not yet he is still on my list, but I did see a tinny one about 26 inches, wasnt much bigger than a hammer handle....

I wasnt fishing the lake I wanted to target pike on... I was fishing a lake that was best suited for bass... lots of shallow, lots of structure,

I know guys its been a couple weeks since my last report. Been vary bussy on the home front...

This dosnt mean that the contest has been slow... in the last couple weeks we have had a couple heavy hitters step up to plate with a had full of some excilent catches and moved right up to near half way to our first place contender...

Fresh water guys are holding the front still for the biggest fish (longest) by an inch over our salt water guys I know this record wont last, and I also know there are a few fresh water guys out searching for muskies, pike, stergeon and cat fish. I also hear that there a some salt water guys out looking for shark, tuna, cudas, halibuts, and stergeon.... looks like this years biggest fish event will be a photo finish...

Sounds like I've got a ways to go. Man, I haven't been able to get anything to bite except hammerhandles smaller than the one I posted. Not even bullheads and carp like my hooks this year!

them carp have been just way to avtive this spring.

I have pulled in one cat (bullhead) she was bustin with eggs so I put her back after getting a picture...

I havent pulled in a pike yet my self... I have only seen one 26 incher that looked like a hammer handle. it was under the dock at the public boat ramp. (no fishing from the dock)

I am getting my share of spouts here...

after yesterdays down pour my front yard and drive way was submerged under a foot of water.

It went down in about an hour after I got home and unplugged the ditch so it could drain in to my back yard where there was two foot of water.

I walked back there today, the standing water was gone but the whole yard was like walking on a giant spunge...

Well it was bound to happen, the fresh water fish was knocked out of first place with a salt water fish... Great work guys.

since my last report we have had a score of fish enter the contest.... Contestant scores are climbing, but still not so high that they couldnt be reached.

It is mid term of the contest and there are 100+ fish already entered in to this years contest. salt water leads the pack with the biggest fish and the higest score but the fresh water game is holding its own.

dave.. that would be sweet! For some reason I thought I had entered a trout already... .hmm.. it's that "getting old thing" creeping up on me again. It does that from time to time. Now If I can just remember where I caught that nice trout..

i intend to be back in the running this weekend . we got rain , woo hooo !

as you know , work and puter problems have been slowing me down .

Well Dave, the creek was flooded, so no trout for me this week, but... hee hee!!!!!! I get to add a few more inches.. I caught the biggest carp yet for me! 31 inches and 15 pounds of gorgeous carp! MAN, I love fighting those fish!!!!


This is how it happened... maybe it won't be allowed. My Step mother in law had a line in the water, and she was holding the rod when the carp took the bait (a bagel piece) When she felt it's size, she gave me the rod and said "HERE, you bring it in!!" We have a few pictures of the fight between me and creek carp! I think this was the one that tried to kill me earlier this year!

I caught 2 carp this weekend, this was the second one! Dang, it felt good!!!!! Celeste was helping me here!

Can it realy be ture? That the fish are bigger in Texas?

Well Hutch00 moves up to hold the big fish catigory bumping Tubn2 with a 52 inch Silky Shark. Will this one hold? time will only tell, there is still 4 months left and any thing can happen.

Tubn2 still holds the salt water catigory Tho' Hutch00 cirtainly did move right up on him this last couple weeks.

on the fresh water seen that big red nosed fella is still holding on to first place with Lonehunter nippin at his gill fins... with just one fish away form moving in to first place.

we are not counting any one else out of the game just yet. cause some of fresh waters best fishing comes in the fall. Just weeks away....

No Dave, I didn't get a contest picture... not a legit one. I couldn't figure out how to hold the turtle and a tape measure at the same time AND do all of that in the alloted time I had with my timer. As you can see, I had to bend down. It is a wonder it didnt grab my hair!!! I was trying to keep control of it's mouth with the fishing line! AND..There is no way I was getting a tape measure real close. I got a picture of it next to a yardstick on the ground.

Yes, it was the first one that I ever successfully brought in.
Getting it to shore wasn''t too bad, but trying to grab it's tail was a different story! Hey...it was fun no doubt!

I am sure I was a sight to see with this thing!

no doubt the first couple are a hand full,

I think I just held up the turtle for a shot with me and then layed the turtle on its back to get a full lengh shot with the ruler.

I learned a long time ago if you lay them on thier back they are pretty much all done...

you can go back and look how I did mine and then you can do the same with your next one. chances are good if you go back to where you caught that one in the morning around 8-10 am with a peice of chicken liver you will bring in another one...

it never gets old catching them, and every one is always amazed to see them.

holely mackeronie and cheese, you caught dinner!!!!

I have been looking for one of them all year,

that is not the same as the one I cautht, the one I caught may have been the same in lenth, but no where near in comparison to what you have landed. I caught a leather back snapper, (soft shell snaper) What you have in your picture is an aligator snaper, my snaper may have weighed 6-7 pounds, yours weighed 15-20 pounds. that male in your hand would fight to the equilivant to any fish 4 times its weight. This is some accomplishment, I have seen dozens of people hook in to them and vary few to ever land one...

the aligator snapper is a monster in comparison to what I caught. the one in your hand is the perfect size for dinner!!! they are taisty just about any way you want to serve them. tho' some recipies would require some par boiling in a preasure cooker.

I have eaten about 15-20 of those in my life time, that is probably why I am getting snappy in my old age

I like them in a dozen recipies but my favoriet is chowder made with fresh vegitables from the garden..

Well anglers, we have had another record broken along with another angler getting bumped out of his place position.

nope, it aint the fishing fool, he is still holding on by a short margine, but it is still any ones game with 2 1/2 months to go.

Nope It aint the salt water duden'2 he is holding on with the same margin as the fishing fool.

all I will tell ya is that the person who did the bumping is well known and did it with a solid 11 inches...

By the way, fresh water now holds the biggigest fish catigory once a gain... Woo Hooo!!!

It's been quiet in here. I haven't had much of a chance to go figure out where the fish are... especially now that they're a layer of unsafe ice on the lakes. Haven't tried the rivers yet. Might be able to locate something in the moving water, but not sure.

looks like my points are totaled for the year! I havent fished since October! And Had I had a BFT shirt with me my salmon fishing day, I have added mroe points!

And yes, I have NOT fallen off the Earth! Just been busy! :)

I am the only one that got fishing gear.

Celeste, my 6 yr old, bought me a micro-ultralight for trout fishing.
funny thing is, it's just like the one I already own, so I KNOW she is planning on using it.. which is FINE with me!!!!

here she is with her second ever Brown Trout last year....
see my spare ultralight on the ground? That one only works so so... but NOW... I have another Shakespeare!

well if that dont look like a wall hanger!!! frame that baby and put it on the desk or a wall.

Sounds like santa was good to you this year.

You can take your old reel open it up and wash it out with dish soap. (dawn and water) allow it to dry then hit it up with some reel lube.

(available almost any where for a couple bucks, one container will last a good long time and well worth the price)

What an exciting event !

200+ entries

2360+ inches of fish were entered

many were released

many ended up on the table

I know I gained 10 pounds this year.

Every single one of our contestants have proven thay have what it takes to be a BigFish angler.

Sportsmanship and Camaraderie

A few of contestants were ineligible to win but boy-howdy did the shine in this years event. No doubt they deserve bragging rights. theangler submits a catch of a life time. And our first female contestant (FisherMOM) finishes right up there with the top contenders, and lets not forget TubN2, What a fishing machine he has been this past season, he caught every thing but a flying fish, I bet if the rules had allowed him to use a butterfly net he would have brought one of those in for us too,,,

This has been our most spectacular contest held and friends I cant wait till next season.

WHAT A BLAST !!!
