Tips on Landing a big fish

those of us who know how to handle bigfish I am sure will find this to be well corigraphed. for those of us who only dreamed of battling a bohemouth here is what you will need to know to avoid saying, "you should have seen the one that got a way"

I have always found that shooting the big fish helps I saw a video once of these idiots backing a boat up at high speed in an attempt to land a Marlin. Only issue is boats are not designed to back up at high speeds.

Basically boat almost completley capsized. Coast Guard had to come out and use there HUGE bilge pump to pump it out so they could return safely.

And yes they still caught Marlin ( he had plenty of water to swim in too )

ya, I remember as a youth, the shows of marlin fishing, it was a comon pratice back then to fish for marlin and sail fish using 6 pound test line and charge the fish with the boat.

I realy had to scractch my head on that one.... sure it was probably fun for the boat driver, but were was the fun in fighting the fish?

and that is besides the dangers as you mention of going full throtle in reverce and hitting a roller.

hey dave, i landed a big fish nigh on 5 years ago, now i have to have him with me no matter where i go. now that BIG FISH IS ON HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help!!!!11 now ya got 2. hahahaha that big fish don,t know when to quit. always got to have the last word too. i think he needs a hook to go along with that fish! haha he likes the site. haha lookin at the one with the marlin, and the boat. that almost sank. he liked that one. haha later give the little boy his fish will ya soon. i,m tired of hearin bout it. thanks mare--- lou-- now pathes haha

Not to fear, we all went through the New Memeber, tadpole stage. The more posts the more fish species that you'll have assigned. I loved it when I was a barracuda but alas a few more posts and there I was a brand new fish!

HEY JAPANRON! merry christmas and happy new year. ibeen on here almost 2 years i guess now, i had trouble with my stupid computer so had to change my handle. haha it,s used to be lou, my fiance that,s too fancy of a word, haha boyfirend gonna be husband haha is new now. haha that,s why we was bustin each other, haha i was learnin him how to git around on this site, so he didn,t answer lonehunter right off and we lost him. haha yeah he got all casited bout them fish. haha yeah he went to the different fish ya can git, i never realized that. well anyways have fun no matter what ya do, and have a wonderful christmas. it,s rainin here today and gonna snow tomorrow. more ice. darn it. so be safe drivin guys. later

hey dave, thanks fer your hep!! haha what a time tryin to git this thing situated. haha, anyways don,t think our ice is gonna last long, it,s rainin again today. it,s gonna be bad ice again this year i think. especially the way this years startin out. back and forth,again cold then warm. thats dangerous and i,m not goin on it. not worth it to me. too bad, cause i use to love goin and gittin the little smelt over to echo lake in plymouth. vt. bout 20 miles away from us. but they are so sweet and taste alot sweeter than even my brookies. but my brookies still come first! haha, there about 6-8 inches long got pink on their sides. and my lord the taste!!! we use to catch 3 at a time. cause that the way you can sit up your line. i used the size 8 hook like i do fer my brookies and a little minner and boy would they hit!! and even at times we,d git some goooood rainbows on em. cause they follow the smelt. i,ve pulled out a 25 inch rainbow,trout but had to make the hole bigger before i could pull him out. lotta hollerin goin on, haha especialy when your usin a 4lb test on em. haha we had a good ice shanty with a picture winder in it. aha and had the reels set up on a 2x4 a pice off the old ice set up ya set out on the ice, the alunimun straight piece, and stick it out over the hole, and wiated fer it to move and you,d use your finger go under the line and pull up. we had em. 3 at a time. haha had hotdogs on the kerosene stove fried the fish later, make a tader salad, tader chips, hot cholate beer haha and spend the nite cause we had bunks that folded down, sleepuin bags the works, just like home. haha even had the porta potty. hahamy son was only 7 then. haha did it fer years. miss it. it just hasn,t over the years had good ice like we did back then,. ya know. i guess i,m skiddish of it. when it don,t stay cold. and snow, ya know. it,s foolish toi take that chance to me. we use to have good ice in end of oct. and november! back when i was a kid, and it,d stay till april good may part of. now i don,t dare it,s fuuny how the years have changed the weather, wekk youy have a hole hearted christmas. with love surroundin ya all thru the year, take care, be safe, mare, we will, we got a houseful comin!!11 hahah hope santa don,t have a hole in his bag. hhaha

i still type with one finger , so don't let the typing thing stand in your way .
now as for the fishin' , i can cast and use two rods at the same time , reeling them in at the same time , well i havent worked out the bugs to that problem yet .

I got the reeling thing covered just use an old martin auto fly reel in both hands. Press the lever and both baits come in at the same time. Thanks for the vote of confidence!

i never thought of that , i have 2 of them too ! ones a polished alum , and the other is a green colored alum one .
they still work great !
