Found a good way to secure form submissions
Have any kind of form on your site? Something like a survey or a contact us page?

Ever had a bot come by and spam your web admin email account by automating the submission of these forms?

Well, recently this began happening to me, so I began looking for a way to stop it.

I came across this great free tool created by the Carnegie Mellon University to help them digitize old texts and store them in electronic form for future preservation.

See http://recaptcha.net/learnmore.html

You've seen those forms where you type in the word you see in a distorted image, to prove you're a human (computer image recognition software has a hard time scanning and 'reading' the distorted words in these types of images).

Recaptcha does that, using two words. I integrated this into my contact us form on my site. I haven't had a spam email since.

Try it out, and let everyone know how your results fare, or speak up if you have other good suggestions for a solution to this type of problem.
