Intro & Welcome (Moderator)
G'day and welcome to the Lures/ Baits Forum. My name's Steve Badman and I am the new the moderator for this board.

I am looking forward assisting anglers here and joining in on the chat when needed. I also like to learn about how anglers use their baits, jigs and lures in both fresh and saltwater.

This applies from beginners to the very experienced, so it should be a lot of fun.

From here on it's just baits, jigs and lures on this board (of all descriptions), and everything directly related to them.

This includes (IMO) line types, leaders, swivels, knots, lure shapes, bait preferences, soft plastic tails, hooks, best techniques, useful rod/reel combo's for tackle, molds, skirts, head shapes, iron jigs, bucktail jigs, spinner baits, plugs, casting, jigging, trolling, glow heads, surf fishing, inshore, offshore, downrigging, new tackle designs, and so on down the long list of artificials we go.

I would also like to consider that this board is open to all anglers from around the world, both men and women, the young and the older. I am not so young msyelf so that's a start...

Don't be shy and don't get bothered if you have not done much fishing, message board posting, or cannot find what you need. If your "prop hits a snag" then just let me know.

There are also plenty of skilled, wise and/or net savvy anglers around who can help out I as well.

Over time I will also tell you a bit more about me, what I do when not moderating this board, why, and so on. Or just click on my user name on the left and that will give you some information if wanted.

Either way, post your questions and this Board underway with plenty of rock and roll. Too easy!

Burnin Thumbs!

Not only from your Knowledge but the way you put it onto a post.

You can be sure I’ll be checking in if nothing else just to read what is said….& how it’s said.

Folks, if ya have questions about different kinds of lures, Steve is a good one to ask questions about them.
`just remember he comes from a land far away & might not know some of the names put to lures…Wink
but if ya talk with him about them, he’ll surly give ya his best ideas & be wanting to find out why & how they are used.
`he also talks kina funny…Smile…`or, is it the other way around.??

I’ll also say, his very own lures have put some very nice feesh on rods off my boat out in the Middle of the biggest pond they made.

I look forward to watching / joining in the discussions that can happen here on this board.

Thanks Steve for stepping up & moderating this here lure & bait board here at BFT.

G'day Capt.Dan

Glad you dropped in and thanks for the welcome. Should be a lot fun talking with anglers here. Between here, the Saltwater Board and several others on BFT, we should all be able to talk up a storm I reckon.

Why? Because if you walk into any tackle shop (around the world) what you see the most of? Baits, jigs, lures, spinner baits, bucktails, soft tails, pushers, skirts, hooks, glow heads, crank baits, jerk baits, hard body lures, surface lures, minnows, plugs, poppers, fizzers, and then some more. Dead baits, live baits, live bait rigs, heavy jigs, diamond jigs, more immitation baits than can ever be thought of and on the lost goes.

Yep, we'll have plenty to talk about here Dan and I am sure anglers at the SW Board will need to drop in here as well.

Hi Steve,
Good to see you moderating this board & very good to find a place with an international fishing flavor. I've been out a couple of times around Cape Cod but it's still early season for us & the bigger striped bass don't really turn up in numbers for a while yet. There are some bluefish around, albeit small ones mostly, and I'll be able to field test those jigs you sent me my next trip out (I particularly want to see how they do down along the Elizabeth Islands...
Anyhow, glad to see you running things here. I'll make it a regular stop in my cyber travels...

G'day Jerry

Glad you dropped in and thanks for the quick round up over your way on what's happening in MA. For those that don't know Jerry (and I am sure he won't mind me saying his), he is a fishing writer and angler of many years experience.

Knows his tackle and I happy to have your input here any time as I am sure many anglers have questions that suit the upper US east coast.

Till the next time around!
