DWR open houses for anglers
The DWR is holding multiple open houses to talk with anglers. There will be updates on regional fisheries and discussions about proposed fishing regulations for 2013. Mostly, the biologists will be on hand to listen to your input and answer questions. Here's a list of dates and locations:

May 22 (tonight) in Springville — The meeting will be held in the main conference room of the DWR office (1115 North Main Street). Stop by anytime from 6–8 p.m. This open house will feature very brief presentations on the status of central-Utah fisheries, including Strawberry, Jordanelle, Deer Creek, Yuba and Scofield reservoirs and Utah Lake. Biologists will spend the remaining portion of the open house discussing regulation recommendations, answering questions and taking public comment.

May 24 in Salt Lake City — The meeting will be held from 6–8 p.m. at the DWR's Salt Lake Office in Room 1050 (1594 W. North Temple). Topics will be similar to those covered in the Springville meeting.

May 31 in Logan — The meeting will be held from 5–8 p.m. at the Cache Valley Hunter Education Center (2851 W. 200 N.).

June 5 in Cedar City — The meeting will be held from 6–8 p.m. at the DWR's Southern Region office in Cedar City (1470 N. Airport Road).

June 12 in Richfield — The meeting will be held from 6–8 p.m. at the Sevier County Admin. building in Richfield (250 N. Main St.).

*June 12 in Roy — The meeting will be held from 5–8 p.m. at the Angler's Den (5348 S. 1900 W., next to Harmons).

If you aren't able to attend one of these open houses, please take a few minutes to share your input via the DWR online survey at http://wildlife.utah.gov/2013fishingsurvey.

*Edited to update the date of the Roy open house, which was switched to June 12.

Thanks for the info Amy. Has there any word on the DNR trying to make their own wipers this year, instead of buying them? I know they have been trying for several years to get the process down, so I hope this year they were successful. Smile

I've forwarded your question to a couple of our biologists, wiperhunter2. I'll let you know what I find out.

Amy was that correct 5 to 8 PM in Logan? I see most of the others were 6-8? Or is the Cache Valley crew just more difficult to deal with? Hey I appreciate the tip I'll try to be there. Thanks J

I heard back from our warmwater sportfish coordinator, Drew Cushing, and he explained that we will be purchasing wipers again this year, but we are also moving ahead on producing them here in Utah. Specifically, he said, "We have perfected a way to keep the milt alive for several weeks, which was a major hurdle last year. Right now, we are waiting for the white bass spawn to progress enough to go down and collect mature females."

Thanks for planning to attend, SkunkedAgain. Each region set its own open house times. It's possible that the Logan meeting is a little longer to accommodate those who might be traveling or who just want to stop by after work. Either way, the open houses are pretty informal, and we really encourage people to stop by!

Thanks for the update Amy, will we be able to talk to any of the warm water biologist during the open houses?

Our regional biologists manage both warm water and cold water sportfish. They will definitely be at the open houses, and you're welcome to approach them with any questions or input about warm water species. Thanks again for your interest in attending, wiperhunter2!

Which site are you trying to access, bassrods? I just checked the online survey, the main DWR fishing page, and the stocking page, and couldn't see any issues.

I clicked the link in the original post and it took me right to the survey, but it could be a browser issue. Here's another link that you can try: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HNGVVMQ
