NEW EXOTIC FISH DISCOVERED IN LAKE SUPERIOR
Wisconsin fisheries biologists have discovered a new non-native fish, the tubenose goby, in Duluth/Superior harbor.

This species is related to the round goby, which has hurt Great Lakes gamefish populations with its aggressive appetite for fish eggs (especially smallmouth bass eggs). However, the tubenose is not expected to be as much of a threat to native fish populations.

Several years ago I was fishing in the Detroit River just 50 feet off of the west bank of Bell Isle. Where I was picking up one piece of junk after another. So much that the coast guard pulled along side of me to see if I was throwing the trash back in.

While they were watching me I latched on to a 20 year old can of catfish. Say what? You ask, yah that’s right a 20 year old beer can that a channel catfish fry had moved in to, and made his home to the point that the fry was so big that it could not get back out of the hole. He had grown to the full length of the can; his head was three times bigger than the hole.

Splitting open the can and pulling the cat out of the can and showing it to the guard and released the cat back in to the water. Finally free after god only knows for how long he was imprisoned.

My dad just watched in amazement, as he had never seen any thing like that before in his life.

I tell ya if you go fishing with me you will never know what is going to come back out of the waters.

I have pulled many strange things from the waters like rocks clams and muscles, old boots, a six pack, fishing gear, radios, women’s underwear (yes I do look to see if the rest of the ensemble is there ). You just never know what I will pull up next. I just seem to have that kind of luck.

I see it's been a while since you have been to the BigFishTackle boards . With the spring runs about to begin I thought this would be the perfect time to get you reaquanted with the boards and into the free contests here .
