Fishing

I have a pond on my farm, and in the evening the fish seem to be very active. They are feeding , But when I try to fish out there nothing bites at all, And i don't know what lure to use. I've used jitter bugs, hula poppers, texas rigged worms. spoons. It seems that nothing works. And tips on what to use?

What species and have you tried flies?

There's Largemouth Bass and sun perch. I see huge fish jumping all the time. It's really cool to watch. I just wish i could catch them.

I just recently found a pond in my area that I know nothing about.There is 1 tree in the enire pond so there is no structure just grass flats. I had no idea about what was in it besides Bass and just kind of figured there was smaller fish like sun fish and crappie in there. What I decided to do was throw something that those bass rarely see. I know there is no craw fish in that pond but I tied a craw on texas rigged and ended up having a good day. So far this year I have fished it 2 times on my kayak and caught over 10 bass with 2 being over 4lbs on our pumpkin craw. Try something they arent use to seeing. It might get them to start biting.

Try senkos, or any other brands version of the senko, either wacky rigged or texas rigged. Both weightless. The weight of the worm will be enough to cast it.

Thanks for all the tips, I think i'll try the wacky rigged senko, but i'm having a hard time picking out the color, the pond is very stained, you can barely see anything in there, which color do you think I should use?

I personally like a Red Senko with Red and Black Flake and I also like a Watermelon Senko.

Just keep us posted on if you catch anything or not. Another good color is anything purple. For some reason, i catch alot of fish on that color and on watermelon colors.

the problem with fishing farm ponds is that they got used to seeing people fish, many of them have been caught many times,

there are a couple things to do, use a lighter line, where camo that matches the suroundings.

the best thing to do is to dummy them up. "feed them lake fish food pellets" this will get them used to you even look forward to see you comming out.

pond bass get timmid faster than lake bass because of the fishing presure. They have plenty to eat, so they need to be entised in to biting, Use a rooster tail, yellow or brown, try different sizes as well, but start with the smallest first.

+1 to that....a 4 inch senko worm rigged wacky is my "go to" bait for LMB's and SMB's. I also use a crawdad spray made by berkley. The number 1 color I go with is "changible craw" by Maniac. Red hooks seem to work better too.

Of course this is for Utah, however I have caught them in clear water and stained water that is so cloudy I figured that throwing a senko would be useless. Boy was I wrong.

I'm back, didn't have any luck with the senko, but I did try a texas rigged powerworm with the weight on it. That didn't work, Then i decided to try it weightless and I've caught alot of fish, sun perch and largemouth bass. My largest one so far is about 5 pounds. Thanks for are the suggestions! I think fishing will be my new hobby.
