Kentucky Lake & Lake Barkley - malcolm - 07-05-2001

Whitebass are still excellent. Very few jumps have been seen yet. The fry haven't
moved to the mainlake yet. The whites are feeding heavily on willow flys.
Roostertails are catching most of the whitebass with jigging spoons running a close
second. Some largemouth fishermen are catching some heavy fish from the drop offs
in Lake Barkley. Carolina rigged plastic worms has been the best bait. Catfish are
good in Lake Barkley fishing close to the bottom in 20' to 25' of water. Most are
being caught on the deep side of the drops. Minnows and cutbait are the best baits.
Crappie are spotty and there is not much activity to report. Bluegill are good on
crickets early and late in the day. Some sauger are being caught in Kentucky Lake
but is only fair.

TIP: When fishing for whitebass try to match lure size to the size of the baitfish.

BITS AND PIECES: Happy July 4th from Hook Line & Sinker. The fireworks
were great tonight, but remember our freedom. Remember the men and women who
have given so much to protect our freedom as well as the freedoms we all share. On
this holiday we hope each one of us take time to be graceful and thankful for the
privilege of living in this great nation. When we think we have things so bad, take a
look at other countries and what then don't have. This should serve as a reminder to
all of us how good we have it.

www.kentuckylakebarkley.com
