Fishing Report April 14th British Columbia

Saltwater Fishing |

Salmon fishing has been better than normal for April so far. Our guy Dan has consistently been hitting between 6 to 12 fish per trip about 10 minutes from the harbor. The salmon are biting on little fish Hoochie‘s and small spoons like normal for this time of year. There seems to be quite a bit of bait around, especially middle fish. The salmon have mostly been between 7 to 15 pounds but there are a few larger ones around as well.

Halibut fishing has been good for some other boats though we have mostly been focussing on salmon and lingcod because of Customer preference. The halibut fishing has been decent in close to shore and we are guessing there should be some good offshore fishing as well though we haven’t gotten out there yet. This week the weather here is sunny and warm and it is a good time to get out on the water!

If you are wanting to come on a fishing charter in Ucluelet with us in 2021 expect accommodation to be in short supply like these past few summers. This past summer was the hardest season yet to find accommodation. You can check out Ucluelet-Info.com or get one of our fishing packages available at https://www.salmoneye.net/site/fishing-packages.html. We have very little ocean view accommodation but still have some cabins available.

Tight lines,

Sam Vandervalk
