Lincoln beach - Mooseman75 - 03-02-2018

I went to try to catch a cat at Lincoln beach yesterday, 3/1/2018, and the harbor from the boat ramp almost to the end of the dike is a solid sheet of ice. I’m guessing at least an inch.the rest of the lake past the end of the dikes are all open water. All the bushes along the north dike have been cut down which will make shore fishing much easier. I didn’t go on the south dike so I don’t know about those bushes.

Thanks for the update. I like your enthusiasm. I had planned to go out yesterday as well, but the forecast for wind scared me off[Tongue]

Good luck this year!

Did you catch anything? Weather has me scared off this week.

Re: [Anglinarcher] Lincoln beach - Mooseman75 - 03-03-2018

Nothing. We fished for a little over an hour off the dike hoping for a bass or walleye but all we caught were rocks lol. The wind picked up towards the end and it was hard to control anything after that.

Sorry about your failed test, but at least I don't feel so bad for not going. LOL

I also wanted to make it this morning but the wind scared me off. Looking forward to wetting a line. Trapped a few chub minnows last night. Hoping to lure Lynn's 30"+ before he wakes from hibernation.

Ben... I am not in “hibernation!” I am being held against my will by people with no authority to do so.

I was at Lincoln on March 1st. I had to try for my first channel cat. It was good to be back. I arrived at Lincoln Beach just after daylight. It was good to see the calm water and smell the fishy air. I walked out the north channel arm and checked the water temp... just under 60 degrees. I watched a couple of midge swarms in the frags and had a couple of skeeters get me before I could get them. It was good to be back. I watched a few carp frolicking in the shallows and hen mallard with a dozen little ones in tow as they paddled out the channel. A black mink maneuvered through the rocks along the shore as he followed them with hungry eyes. The white bass were snarffing midges off the surface of the water at the end of the channel. It was good to be back.

As I was preparing to make my first cast of the season, two serious looking gentlemen in white coats gently took me by each arm and led me back to a waiting van. I was escorted back to my residential cataholic treatment center where the van disgorged me, rather forcefully I thought, and a treatment team escorted me to a secure room with padded walls. Specific instructions were given that I was not to be in the presence of anyone with any type of fishing disorder. I was administered massive doses of anti-depressants and confined to my room until fair weather arrives. It will be good to get back.

Soon. BLK

I thought I was in bad condition! Good to hear from you Lynn. I wish you a speedy recovery and restful sleep filled with tugs from 30”+ kitty’s.
