Nice cutty, how long was it?

RE: Pyramid L 10-20-22 - Bduck - 10-27-2022

He didn't get length but knows it was well over 24", his estimation is around 28"+

Looks like a good fish, no matter the length. Were they trolling?

RE: Pyramid L 10-20-22 - Bduck - 10-28-2022

They were trolling & jigging. He's going back up to spend 3days on about Nov 12.

I have done a few trips when I use to live in Sacramento. The last time I was there is 2010 fall fishing season pulling my travel trailer for a 3day stay meeting up with friends.

I lived in Sacramento in the mid 1970s for a few years.  Got to fish Pyramid while there were still quite a few double digits (pounds) being caught.  Brutal cold fishing in January and February but a potential 20 pounder kept us going.  Saw a few over 20 but never broke 15 myself.

Broke my heart when the Lahontan population crashed after water was being shut off from the Truckee in the spring so they couldn't spawn.  Glad the greedy water users got smacked, got a mandatory flow and that the cutts are coming back strong.   Now if they could only do something about the bazillion pelicans that swarm around the inlet...eating everything they can get hold of.  At least now they have a tribal spawning facility that helps return a lot of new fish to the lake every year.
