New Federal Law - gdn443 - 05-21-2004

It is now illegal to anchor 25 yards or closer to a bridge in a federal water way. This includes for us is the CT.,Thames, and the Housatonic. If your caught it will be a $30,000 fine.

I wonder what the thinking is behind this law?

not that I would ever want to ancor by any bridge.

I fish the detroit river so I am sure if this law is federaly mandated it would cover us as well.

Hey Dave, the DEP bulleton only said it is now the law. Does seem strange that it only affects Federal roads. Alot of guys will anchor up stream of the bridge struts and let their bait float or drop down to them. Great stripe bass tactic here. I guess the guys will have to troll more.

I do that for trout here in michigan on smaller streams. it is a good way to catch a trout hiding.
