Mercury or Yamaha Outboards - MBM - 08-09-2007

What do you guys think about Mercury or Yamaha outboard motors. Both are 4 strokes and I am looking at a 25hp or a 20hp. Also is electric ignition worth the extra 300$? Looking to power a 16 or 14ft Aluminum boat.

Looked at a 14ft Crestliner Sportsman today that I really fell in love with.

both are very good motors, and the electronic ignition will give you a quicker responce, and easier start up.the only thing i could see, that would help you choose, is the weight of the motors, merc is 157 lbs, compaired to yamaha's 114 lbs

If ya can swing the extra 300, Id say do it... of all the extras in the world you have ever gotten this will be by far your best investment...

I've been very happy with my 40hp Merc and go for the extra $300.00 it's worth it. Like starting your car. [Smile]
