DOW SETS BIG GAME PLANNING MEETINGS FOR SAN LUIS VALLEY - FishNews - 04-15-2008

The Colorado Division of Wildlife has scheduled two public meetings next week to present big game hunting license numbers for the San Luis Valley for 2008.

The first meeting is 6 p.m., Monday, April 7 at the Monte Vista Co-op; the second meeting is 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 9 at the Community Center in Creede.

Brad Weinmeister, terrestrial biologist for the DOW in Monte Vista will explain proposed license numbers for big game species: deer, elk, bear, pronghorn and moose. All the game management units in the San Luis Valley will be included: GMUs 68, 681,682, 76, 79, 791, 80, 81, 82 and 83.

Other DOW personnel will also be at the meetings to answer questions.

The license recommendations will be considered by the Colorado Wildlife Commission on May 1 at its meeting in Grand Junction.

Time will be allowed for questions and answers.
