Is this just another gimmick designed to catch fisherman or fish?

Easy cheap way to try it out with a spinning reel, is run your line through your finger near your reel. Has the same affect.

like ratstar said.. it is easy to dup this with your hand. I put my finger down and let it hit the line as it reels. Same exact motion. I don't notice any more strikes w/ it. Only, it makes your rod not as sensitive as it usually would be because you have all these jerks in the tension.

I really lack knowledge about fishing. Especially catfish.
Or that Fishing-Obsession cause I get preoccupied about where and and what I'm gonna do this coming year. Sometimes at work I even think about fishing long before I even go.
Or the Mad-Troller cause when I troll I use a $500 inflatable boat with an extremely heavy marine battery thats way to heavy for the boat. And I use so much energy hauling all my stuff to launch my boat.
