Good place to camp and fish in Colorado for a 3 or four day trip? - catfish77 - 05-13-2011

I'm thinking taking a short trip from SLC to Colorado this summer and was wondering what area would be good to try for camping and fishing. I prefer to fly fish and was hoping to keep the drive time between 4 to 6 hours or so. Thanks for the advice in advance.

When are you thinking of coming? We have a tremendous snowpack in the northern half of the state this year, so runoff most places
will last well into July.

Well, how about about some good places to go when the run-off subsides?

I would suggest the Grand Mesa near Grand Junction. It is close by and similar to the Uintas. Lots of lakes and streams full of trout.

I'm been debating the white river area around Rifle or Meeker. Can anyone tell me more about the camping and fishing there?
