We got 6 of them on Saturday.
You can eat them if you want they are mild tasting.

NDOW states if you catch one to kill it immediately.

Get a bag of frozen peas. Use light line and a bobber. Fish in the shallow water like the Vegas Wash.

Do these tilapia stay right next to shore in the lake or do they venture a little further out into the more open- still shallow waters of the wash? Are they primarily in cover toward the back of coves?

I used to throw a piece of bread in the water right next to shore back in Hawaii and catch them by the dozen with a bamboo pole... I never see them here though.

We found them up shallow in the dirty water of the Vegas Wash. More towards the middle and near the sand bars.

Must be eating stuff that flows down the wash. Biggest so far was just shy of 5 pounds. All by net while trying to get the shad.

We did see some small Tilapia schools cruising the shallow waters over by Crawdad cove. That was 3-4 years ago. They are very skiddish in clear water.

Found a cheap cast net at Walmart, will see if they are any good. Has more weight than the others and a longer handline 25ft.

I bought some nylon rope and extended my hand line about 10 ft with a uni to uni knot. I can cast out further and a little deeper now
