The Truckee River Flyfishers fly-tiers round table presents Bill Ladner as the guest tyer. Ladner is a local legend for his pursuit of steelhead with a fly rod. He will tie several of his favorite steelhead patterns as well as some of his secret Pyramid Lake patterns. For more information call Bud Johnson at 345-0458. Place: Verdi Nature Center and Library, 260 Bridge St. Time: Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Nov. 14
The Truckee River Flyfishers are sponsoring a fish-outing at Davis Lake. Davis is located 60 miles northwest of Reno off Highway 70. Davis has Eagle Lake strain rainbow trout in the 16-28-inch class. These are big strong fish and 5-7 weight rods are recommended with leaders and tippet in 2-3 X. Blood midges, wiggle tail nymphs, wooly buggers and snail patterns are all producing fish. You can wade or float tube. Dress warm. Neoprene waders are recommended. Fish Master will be Chris Wharton, owner of Stillwater Guide Sevice. He will give a short but informative talk on how to fish Davis. For more information call Wes Ong at 677-2578. Meeting place is Camp 5 on the west side. Time: 8 a.m.

Nov. 16-18
Nevada Department of Wildlife sponsors progressive, beginning fly-tying class. A three-day progressive fly tying class designed for entry-level fly tiers and free to all participants. Class is limited to the first 15 persons who sign-up. Basic streamers, nymphs and dry fly-tying techniques will be demonstrated. The class will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each night. Held in Verdi at the Verdi Community Library and Wildlife Education Center. 270 Bridge Street. Building is adjacent to the Verdi Elementary School grounds. Minimum 12 years of age. All fly-tying equipment will be provided. Materials will be provided only for the first class. Participants will need to purchase some materials after the first meeting.
