Lake Mead Wednesday
#1
Wednesday, 07/13/05- Hit the water at about 6:00 pm. Boy was it HOT! Skimming across Las Vegas Bay at 35 mph was like standing in front of a hot blow dryer. We were ready for a couple of bottles of cold water when we arrived at Las Vegas Wash. The small stripers started boiling like crazy at about 7:30 pm. These fish were only 8-10 inches long. This action took place near the opening to Gypsum Wash. We were hoping to run into a couple of boils consisting of one - two pounders. Just before dark it happened. The action took place off the point of land that separates Las Vegas Wash from Gypsum Wash, very close to shore. 16 fish made it into the box. The average length was about 15 inches long. A silver Rattletrap worked for me, Don used a 4" Storm Wild Eyed pink shad swimbait. Off the water by 9:00 pm. I can't wait to do it again!
