New Data Don't Support Columbia River Salmon Season
#1
GRANTS PASS, OR—An independent scientific panel released a report last week that says there's not enough scientific evidence to justify high harvests of Columbia Basin salmon, which could harm depleted stocks of wild fish.

The report from the Independent Scientific Advisory Board comes as chinook returns to the Columbia River this year fell short of what fisheries managers had predicted. This shortfall forced reductions in Columbia River sport and commercial fishing seasons.
