#1
[cool][font "Arial"][size 2]Fishing 8 miles off Doc’s Beach House, Bonita Beach, with the John Pear party Monday, we used live shrimp to catch fifteen mangrove snapper to 14 inches, large triggerfish to 15 inches, a black drum over 30 pounds, porkfish & grunts. We released gag grouper shorts to 18 inches, and red grouper to 15 inches. The weather got in our way Tuesday, but after ho-ho-ho-ing on Wednesday, we were back out Thursday at the artificial reefs off Bonita Beach, with the Tom Batchellor party. The water was a chilly 62 degrees and muddy, due to the weather front, which made for slow action. The group caught more than enough for dinner, though, with sheepshead to 17 inches and mangrove snapper to 14 inches, using live shrimp. The Lee Wampler party fished with us Friday, using live shrimp in 32 feet off Bonita Beach. We caught four limits of mangrove snapper to 16 inches, and released two additional limits, along with gag grouper shorts to 21 inches and red grouper to 19 inches. We also caught triggerfish, keeper lane snapper & sheepshead, and a 7 lb. little tunny. Saturday, in seas predicted to be 1-3 foot, we encountered some rough 3-4 foot seas 9 miles off Doc’s Beach House, Bonita Beach, with the Martin Cousineau party. Using live shrimp, we caught four limits of mangrove snapper to 14 inches, and released two additional limits. We also caught and released keeper-sized sheepshead, triggerfish and grunts. The best catch of the day was a keeper 24 inch gag grouper.
