Canyon Lake Guide Report
#1
Water gin clear; 50-52 degrees; 906.47' (3.5' low)
Water temps. are finally down to just a little above the normal yearly average, therefore, you need to slow down your pre-sentation. That being said, the bass bite is still on. Concentrate on brushpiles along secondary points and ledges.
Largemouth are fair to good over brushpiles and along bluffs in 12'-20' using suspending jerkbaits, Texas rigged rootbeer-green JDC Craws, Carolina rigged bubblegum Snap Back jerkbaits, wacky rigged cotton candy Whacky Sticks and suspending jerkbaits.
Smallmouth are good to 3.5 pounds over rockpiles in 8'-15'
along bluffs and inside of mainlake points using rootbeer-green or white JDC Craws, Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues and black-brown 1/8oz. hair jigs.
Stripers are improving at midlake in 30-50 feet of water vertically jigging 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows and casting 2 or 3 inch Spoiler Shads to shallower fish.
White Bass are fair to good along mainlake points jigging Pirk Minnows, Spoiler Shads and Tiny Traps.
Crappie are fair at Cranes Mill fishing pier on minnows.
