This is not float tubing
#1
I just had to share my day with you guys, I did include a pic of my float tube to make it legal[Wink]

Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir, Norton Bay
Finally got out yesterday, 1st day of the new year. Couldn't get in to Grey's Landing or Big Sand Bay as the road was very drifted! Tried Norton Bay's road and other that being muddy still would suggest 4x4 to get in.[Smile]

Ice had water on the top but was 8+" deep. Kind of eery looking but plent of ice. Need to have some type of cleats on the boots whether it be the boughten kind or screwing in some 1/4" sheet metal screws in the bottom of your boots, other wise you will be slippin and when you go down you will be wet, brrr.[frown]

I fished from 2- 6pm and landed 1 trout, saw 2 other guys land a real nice trout.

Here's some pics of the day.

Micheal,

Greetings from the Great White North where our water is hard for many months. I live in Ontario where I have to wait six months to fish for my favourite gamefish.

As a man of faith I appreciate your posts and I absolutely was inspired by your renditions of His artwork.

God Bless You and Everyone here, and may we enjoy the peace and beauty of our chosen pastime for another New Year.

Jet Sled Mods
Just thought I would share with you a project I have been working on for a portable windbreak.

This was made with 3/4" pvc. I had most of the stuff already so I don't know what the cost would be, but I am sure it would still be reasonable.

The bottom part of the rack is semi permanant on the sled and the rest comes apart and goes into the duffle for transporting. I do believe it will easily pull around while set up if the wind isn't to bad, (haven't tried it out yet, this Saturday will be it's debue)

The wooden box (need to figure out a lighter storage system, there) holds the rods, gear, sonar and bait. The buckets hold my tipdowns and misc.

There are 2 buckets one will be for fish the other is 2 buckets combined with the bottom cut out of one and screwed together (made a taller bucket to sit on and for the gear), the lid has had all but 2 of the "latches" cut off, easier to work in the cold with.[Wink]

The ice spoons have just had the foam put on as last weekend one of mine slid down the hole after I set it down on the bench[mad]

I hope to figure out a rod rack but not sure if it will be on the sled, frame or the bench.

I was wondering how well your quick set works? How is it set up? Thanks[fishin]

I found it on iceshanty.com. There wasn't any measurements so I just kind of ice balled it. I haven't had a hit on it yet but I like it over "the slamer" because it is much more compact.

I made something almost exactly like that back in the late 80's. Worked great, though at times with out a ice tie down the wind could sometimes push the whole set up.

are you an iceshanty.com member? i am, my screen name is "icefish_master". like this forum, there's lots of good people on iceshanty.com, and the online tourney is fun to do. right now i have the first place crappie in the "anything" category.

Yes and I have the same name there. I joined last year but really only lurked, I hope to be more active this year. I will need to check out the tourney, but I must confess I am verrrrry envious of your crappie. I really hope to figure them out at SalmonFCR as well as the walleye.[cool]

The quick set triggered 3 times and each time no fish but also the minnow was gone so there is hope for it yet.
