WalMart Marine Maxx Group 29 for trolling motors and the Maxx Group 25 or 27 for cranking. They are inexpensive (not cheap!), guaranteed, and are the best bang for your buck.

Sorry go for a real battery DEKA or TROGEN and choose sealed ones Hensley Battery (DEKA)in salt lake is a great choice buying a battery at walmart is like going to obgyn for knee surgery in my opinion. Goto someone who only deals in electrical(DC). There called specialist... Yes thaey are still around and know there stuff.

I couldn't agree more, and I use my trolling motors and boats over 200 days a year. Save your money on the high dollar stuff and get Everstart Maxx's at Wal Mart for $70. FREE REPLACEMENT, no questions asked, no waiting, no testing, at ANY Wal-Mart for 18 MONTHS. And most will outlast the warranty! You can't beat that anywhere, for any price.

I've tried many others, and they don't last any longer. Some of the $200+ ones lasted for far fewer recharges than the Everstarts on the same boat with the same equipment. Batteries are not that complicated or different, despite all the marketing hype. They all start out great, and they all lose a little zing with every discharge cycle and have a limited life span.

I've made my living fishing, using marine batteries, for over 2 decades. Everstarts ARE your best gang for the buck. I stake my $400-$600 a day guide fee on them.

As a guy who used to build batteries for a living
(before I joined the USAF) I agree 100%. In fact I am buying three of them next week. I have one in the from of my boat for accessories/emergancy use. I can run a set of jumper cables back to the motor from this one if I needed to.

The other two will be hooked up togather so it will double my runtime. If you hook up you batteries pos to pos, and neg to neg, this will ouble you run time. Only do this if you have the 2 of the SAME batteries!!! And make sure you kook them up right, if you were to hook them up pos to neg and neg to pos, it will make the battery 24 nolts and you will blow you electronics.

But yes wal-mart is the way to go!!!

[Wink]Don't get me wrong, if you have a 24v system then thats how you should hook them up. I just figured that most people have everything 12v like I do.[Wink]
