question on fish size
#1
this may be a silly question but .....

how long (approx.) would a "2 to 5lb atlantic salmon" be?? They are stocked fish and that is the size they said are stocked.

I want to go on fri. but I only have a trout net 15" at the length of the opening. Will that be large enough? If I catch any I would like to keep one for dinner but if I should hook up a any more I would like to be able to C&R the fish with out harm.

thanks
jim

to me net size isent that big of a concern... if you catch a larger fish, just get its head in the net and use some muscle to do the rest, attached is a pic of a 4.5 pound rainbow to give you an idea.

As far as trout, a FAT 24" can be 5lb to give you an idea. Although I am betting Salmon will be more in the length than the girth.
Figure between 24" &25" as I think river runners are skinny-er than stillwater.

Like Koch said, get it's head in the net, but that is assuming that your net is deep.
I lost a bunch of big fish last year, AT the net. I scoop their head only to have them shake, throw the hook and flip out of the shallow basket net.
C&R nets are nice, but they can cost fish sometimes.
