Dams are also in the news again. In New Brunswick, the opening of the Petitcodiac Gates has led to an extraordinary effort to restore Atlantic salmon and other migratory species to this and the POLLETT RIVER. ASF is a member of a very large coalition working to successfully bring back this river.

In the international boundary river St. Croix, between Maine and New Brunswick, the continued closure of the fishway to native migratory alewives (gaspereau), has drawn the attention of the Canadian Geographic magazine. ASF and 50 conservation partners are working to help restore this important component of the ecology of the river and adjacent inshore region.
