A little help . . .
#1
I want to (no . . . more like have to) sell my boat. I plan on posting it up on the for sale board and on ksl.com tonight or tomorrow, but I really have no idea what's a reasonable asking price. I've looked on ksl.com and iboats, but can't find anything very similar. I think I got a pretty good deal when I bought it a couple of years ago, but its a totally different boat now, with tons of new stuff, new paint job, engine overhaul, etc. Could some of you with more expertise help me out? That'd be great! Here's the basic info and some pics.

-1994 Gulfstream Delta Fisherman
-2000 Mercury 135 2-stroke w/ power tilt/trim
-19' Fiberglass Deep-V Hull
-Escort Galvanized trailer with new wiring, new 2000lb American Forge winch and bearing buddies
-Brand new carpet and upholsery
-2 Brand new trailer tires + spare
-New $160 aluminum adjustable auxillary motor mount
-2 Cannon manual downriggers w/ weights and releases
-Lowrance Fish Finder, Rod Holders, 30gal onboard tank + 10gal plastic auxillary tank, new anchor and I'll throw in most my trolling gear and acessories.

Everything is in perfect working condition, bilge pump, all trailer lights, navigation lights, tilt/trim, horn, etc. Engine always starts on first or second turn even after sitting all winter.

I also have a 1994 4-stroke Honda 5hp trolling motor, but I'd like to negotiate price on it separately, or just sell it to a different buyer, because I'm confident I can sell it easily for what I'm asking.

You might try NADA for a quote for what your boat is worth . I payed more for my boat was worth in the nada book value but it was hard to get a boat at the time for me . So don't rule out asking a little more than what it says either . I'm trying my best not to sell my boat due to money woes . Wife would love to see the boat go . Grrrrrr . I just had to quit fishing so far to get by . [unimpressed]

Auto Trader has always worked for me. CHEAP ads and pictures to boot. Everytime I have put a vehicle in Auto Trader I go for the run till sold price and I have sold my Vehicle in the first week.
Nice boat by the way. Gulfstream is a well made boat.

Does anyone have a ballpark idea of what'd be a good price? I did look at NADA and it prices the boat without the motor at $4100 and the motor at $3700 . . . but can I really just add those together, totalling $7800? That seems way high to me, especially considering what I paid for it. Of course, I look on boattrader and ksl, etc. and people are asking 7-8K for 18-20' boats from the 70s and 80s that look beat to death and have 20+ yr old motors.

I just don't want to overprice it because I really need to sell it within 1-2 months max, yet I don't want to be an idiot and give it away either.

Be very careful at asking too low of a price. I have learned from my
mistakes. Look at ksl.com and see what similar boats are going for.
It may be beneficial to see what dealers are asking. I bought a trailor a few years back for about $1500 less than I thought it was
worth. I ended up selling it for more and had multiple offers.

I don't think you are too far off with the combined price. Put it on
KSL and see what happens. I have sold a lot of things on KSL.

Lot of boats sell fast on KSL and it is free . I would just price it high for a week long add and see if you get any offers . Work your way down the next week and so on . Sooner or later someone will make a offer and you can decide if it is a good offer . If you want it gone now sell it for 4000.00 , I bet you could get it . Good Luck on the boat . If it was me , I would want to get what I had invested in it at least . Any thing more is a bonus . I'll start the bid at 5.00 if that helps . [Tongue]

I think you could get $6,000 easy. Could even get the combined cost. Theres alot of older boats that are beat up selling in the $4,000 range.Your boat looks like it is in good shape.

Thanks guys for your help, I think that's enough info to make a wise decision. I'll take your advice and price it on the higher end for a little while and then bring it down if I don't get any takers.
