Best type of baitcasting reel for my needs?
#19
The more experienced anglers who have better control and accuracy, bait casting reels are for em’. Inertia has to be strong enough to move the spool with a bait caster. The topmost advantage for this reel is accuracy. You’d be able to put a lure exactly where you want it. But patience is required to use a bait casting reel effectively.

Drift fishing is a common method where the angler casts a line upstream. It is very effective when fishing for smallmouth bass. Allowing the line drift down through the run or pool and then reeling in the line to start the process over again. Typical drift fishing gear includes an 8 ½ or 9 ft. rod rated for 15-30 lb-line, and either a bait casting reel or a spinning reel.
