What is this called and what does it do?

[#000000]I just looked and see the same thing. It is not what I thought in my second post. It is just a prop hub. Some props come that way, with hubs. Some people put them on themselves. I don't know who made that prop so I don't know how it came. The hubs help with stabilizing and water flow and whatnot on some. They also help protect the back of the prop and nuts/shaft from damage. [/#000000]

[#000000]I know that alot of Johnsons/Evinrudes aluminum and steel props come with hubs. As far as what you need to to now it is not much. I know that you can buy hub kits.[/#000000]

[#000000]I would call up Johnson/Evinrude and ask them if it is okay to run the motor with the prop hub off. I don't want to give you any wrong advice so I will just suggest calling them. If they don't advise it, I would guess that they will tell you to buy a new hub, they are probably less than $10.
