I brought a Johnson 35 out to Utah from Michigan. All I had to do was adjust the one carb mixture knob (lean-rich) on the front of the cowling. I had to turn it all the way to one side. Then I removed the small screw in the front of the knob, took off the knob and pointed it in the other direction, then replaced the knob and screw. Then I re-adjusted the carb again.
The knob would not turn enough in one direction so I had to remove that screw so I could continue to turn the adjuster. It worked and I never had to rejet the carb. I sold the boat to a friend and he is still using the motor. Its been over 10 years now and the motor still runs great.
