Coit Electric Reel
#9
Hi- just wanted to add a little info- I have the Blue reel in blue box, brand new in box, my brother has a red--or pink if you will, he uses his as the bearing system is pretty good for throwing in a lead core lake troller. We got them as gifts from my Cousin in law (A Farmer in Madera Ca.) whos father was good friends with Frank Coit. As someone said the reel never took off or perfected as an electric reel as we might think but more of a magnetic anti backlash. My cousin had about 7 or 8 of them so he gave one to me and my brother. He also gave me a book From the Coit fishing pole club called- Beginner's Book of FISHING by john McCallum and Dave Stidolph Produced in 1958 and has a sale price printed as $3.50- The reel is such a wonerfull anidizing that it is easily mistaken for modern tech. The idea should have made him millions and just looking at it i said wow what a cool idea- but it turned out like one of those as seen on TV gimmicks that never really worked. It is very rare and who can put a worth to It? Other than you.
I have no children to hand it down to-Make me an offer
