The link for the video is above. I had a buddy ask me how do I convert my Pflueger Medalist from right to left handed retrieve? My first answer was check YouTube. He said he did but could not find anything on the bigger Medalist fly fishing reels. So I explained to him over the phone and told him I would make a quick video on right to left hand conversions of the 1494-1498 Medalist reels when I get the chance. He was in luck cause it is winter time and I'm not out fishing on the water as often as the rest of the year.

STEP ONE
a. Remove the two screws holding the washer and disk drag in place
b. Remove the washer and disk brake - at this point you can thoroughly clean the reel and oil
c. Turn the dog ratchet around ( its under the disk and has a spring underneath)
d. Flip around and replace the disk brake and washer, tighten screws

STEP TWO
a. Move the line guide and post to opposite side of reel
b. For left hand your brake adjustment knob should be facing you
c. Your good to go!!!

This You Tube video shows you how to simply convert your favourite Pflueger Medalist fly fishing reel from right to left retrieve. The same procedure can be used to convert from left to right as well. Also this procedure works on most Pflueger Medalist fly fishing reels from the 1494-1498 and 15xx series reels. The Medalist is a time tested light weight rugged design which can be used and applied to all the theaters fly fishing has to offer. If you have any additional questions on converting your Pflueger Medalist feel free to comment below and I will get back to you as soon as I can! Thanks as always for watching and hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did making it.
