Channel cats at Cache Junction bridge
#1
Decided to stop by the Cache Junction bridge over Cutler marsh today to spin cast for bass. Used a night crawler on a jig around the big boulders that support the bridge. Didn't get any bass but couldn't keep the small channel cats from hitting nearly every cast. All were small, 7 to 10 inches max, about the same size as the average mud cat in there. Of course I released all of them. Not sure if the decent sized fish have been caught out or what. Maybe the wrong kind of bait at the wrong time of day (noon - 1:00 p.m.).

I usually find where the small ones are hanging out, the big ones aren't... but doesn't mean they won't be there at another time... Sounds like you had a fun time, even if they are small... Worst part of those little guys are their splines are so sharp and seems like the back of them are like razor blades that just love to cut you up... I can't let them go without some kind of damage... guess I should wear a glove when I handle the little ones... Nice report... J
