#1
[#000000]AUGUSTA, ME—A Maine legislative panel has rejected an experimental plan to introduce grass carp from Siberia and eastern China as a way to rid state lakes of invasive plants. [/#000000]

[#000000]The bill, sponsored by Maine Democratic Rep. Ronald Usher, would have directed the state to import plant-eating grass carp to a test site to see if they could control Eurasian milfoil, which has spread to at least a dozen lakes in Maine. THAT IS GOOD NEWS .

I STAYED AT GRAMS AND GRAMPS PLACE IN MAINE FOR THE SUMMERS IN MY YOUTH . THE BLACK STREAM WAS MY STOMPING GROUNDS .

IN THE SPRINGTIME THE STREAM COULD REACH WELL OVER 30 FEET OR MORE , DURING SUMMERMONTHS IT COULD EASILY BE WADED BY THIS ONCE 8 YEAR OLD . CONTAINING A CARP IN WATERS LIKE THAT , IMPOSSIBLE !

I'M GLAD SOMEONE SHOWED SOME COMMON SENCE IN THIS ISSUE .
