Florida Crayfish
#1
Hit the opening day of the regular Florida Spiny Lobster season for the first time. Had only done the 2 day mini season in late July a few times in years past. Also this time we were a bit further down the Keys so we didn’t have any holes from past trips marked on GPS. Big learning curve as we only got 1 keeper in the 4 hour trip starting at sunrise. This was despite finding hundreds of shorts (under 3 inch carapace). Headed in for lunch and then headed further out afterwards. Got 22 keepers at the first hole in 90 minutes. Spent a little more time at a few holes and got 26 total in 2 hours before calling it a day.
Kids had fun despite the slow start. Hopefully we got it down to all limit out at 6 per day tomorrow.

Oops I didn’t mean to post this in fly fishing. Do have a fly rod - maybe try a shrimp pattern.
