That’s a tasty looking little critter, ya goona have him mounted?

For any one who decides to go after one of these, don’t use maximum expiation hollow points from your handgun use full metal jackets with soft point, otherwise you'll just make them mad. Hello ssor, and davetclown,
What a great time I had, if you ever find yourself out this way, I'd be happy to lead the way to the spot.

I had been running daily for the 5 weeks before I went, and thought i would be ready to hump the hills (NOT). Although I knew my "sit at the computer all day" lifestyle would have me a little out of shape for this hunt I had no idea just how bad!

There was at least 1 but probably 2 pigs bigger then this one in the bunch, but after they broke from thier cover twice before and sent me humping the hills, I decieded my .300 win mag would best serve me by taking not the biggest one but the next 100+ pounder that showed its head! Its funny how with each hill you have to climb you become less choosey about what will satisfy your expectations.

Seriosly though, I couldn't be happier, I have had my share of shut outs on hunts and was very happy to bring home the bacon (haha), my son and daughter lit up when I pulled up the first picture, a little young still to jion me they look forward to thier days in the field.

I was going to mount the head if I took a male with tusks but because this was a female without, I took a head shot to aviod potentially losing one of the shoulders and some tasty chops.

I have a couple more hunts planned for spring and can't wait!!

By the way we have recently put together a co-branding campaign with totalhunter.com, for all you hunters be sure to register for thier hunt give-aways, they have some incredible hunts thier giving-away, including some once in a lifetime type hunts, its a great site! http://www.totalhunter.com

[laugh] How about a good laugh?
http://www.bigfishtackle.com/comics.htm

Mike H

The key to preping for the hill hunt is not running. It is getting out of the flatland and in the hills, and then running. This little tactic will have you in much better condition for your next hunt for the pork.

Texas Gulf Coast Fisher.

Nice Hog Mike! Looks like you started the new year off right. For several years I guided Boar hunters in east TN. Even after guiding 300 successful hunts I've yet to take one for myself. Something on the list to do someday. Right now I'm hunting Turkey. Talk to you soon, Ghost

Famous last words: "Ah Bears are too big and fat to run fast"

Hello Ghost,
Good luck with the Turkey, I saw a big Tom when I was hog hunting, but it was the day before opening day (can't win'em all).

Any word on our Bear hunt? I need to start firming things up on this end (flight, lic., etc..) Please call me on my cell, home or the office when you get a minute.

[laugh] How about a good laugh?
http://www.bigfishtackle.com/comics.htm

Mike H

We should try to go right after the first. Snow should be gone in the higher elevations. Our RMEF banquet is on the 10th and I have a 2 day deep sea fishing trip on the 15th. Maybe we can leave on the 3rd/4th. I'll call Monday morning if not sooner. Good hunting, Ghost

Famous last words: "Ah Bears are too big and fat to run fast"
