fishing barrometer

years ago my grandfather had a home made barometer (2 bottles and some red liquid) he had a saying about how the fishing would be according to the barometer
i can not remember the saying, does anyone remember the saying

Welcome to the site, not sure what your grandfather's saying was but I do know when the barometer is raising the fishing is suppose to be average, when it's falling it is suppose to be poor. The good range is 29.8 to 30.2, according to my fishing barometer.
