Chowan River

Took a ride up there to check out some new waters. Glad I did. We caught 5 bass and a bowfin. Plenty of back coves to work and lily pads along the river side that actually hold fish. No current to speak of and water is clearer than the Roanoke. Looks like we found a new home. Takes about an hour north of us, but worth the drive. When I mentioned it to friends down here they said yea its a great place. Why they kept it a secret still baffles me.

Awesome Gregg, glad you found a new body of water to fish. How big was the bowfin, did you get any pics of it?

It was only 18" long. No no pictures. I'll try and take one next time we boat one. Not popular up north for sure. Although Lake champlain had some. But I'm liking this new body of water for sure.
