fishing report for steel
#1
Went up to the Big M over the weekend and did pretty good out of the four of us 4 nice steel 2 moster browns 2 moster rainbows and about 16 other smaller trout were landed. lost alot too. The snow is still deep and there was a lot of hiking to get to the good spots. The nice weather made the river a little more barable but all the snow melt off is making the water a little more tinted.
The signs of spring is just around the corner and the fishing is better everyday.

High water on the AuSable River! Some fresh run steelhead have moved into the very lower river - best fishing has been from Whirlpool to the mouth at Oscoda. Most of fish are in slow deep runs and sand holes. This time of year one day can be very good and next be very slow. Weather is key - stable conditions are the best. Nuke eggs, green caddis, rib ears, and hex nymphs have been working.

Flood waters on the Rifle River right now. Should be fishable in the next week.

The Betsie River is high and dirty. All the ice is gone in the lower river and Betsie Lake. There have been some bright fresh steelhead moving up to Homestead Dam. Look for very good fishing in the next couple of weeks.
