This week fishing has been very good!

Marlin
Marlin fishing is really turned on good numbers of striped marlin and Blue Marlin, most fish from the Light House to Los Arcos. We had one Blue Marlin 440 Lb, one Blue 330 Lb and one 300 Lb.
Striped marlin are running 80 Lb. to 125 Lb.

Dorado
The Dorado fishing has been off the hook, all you want all week, fish are everywhere from Gray Rock all the way up to Los Arcos. Really nice size dorado this year lot of fish 30 Lb to 40 Lb. With the COVID-19 things were shut down for 6 months, gave everything a break and chance to grow. Looks like this in one way was a good thing. The fish are hitting in thing you throw at them.

Tuna
It has been hit and miss, some good action a few days this week at the Horse Shoe and the San Jaime Banks on cedar plugs, king busters and live bait. Nice size fish 40 Lb to 80 Lb.

Wahoo
A few reports up at the Los Arcos.

Inshore
Very good Dorado from the Light House all the way up to Los Arcos, few striped marlin reported on the Panga boats and some small rooster.

The weather is great, calm seas, great fishing and not too crowded yet.

From The Admirals Kitchen!
Mahi Mahi: The Best, Simplest Method

Ingredients
1 medium lemon
4 (4 to 6-ounce) mahi mahi fillets
1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt, plus more as needed
Freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into 4 pieces
1 tablespoon coarsely chopped fresh parsley leaves

Instructions

Step 1
Slice and juice the lemon. Cut half the lemon into thin slices. Juice the remaining half, you should have about 1 1/2 tablespoons of juice; set both aside.

Step 2
Season the mahi mahi. Pat the mahi mahi dry with paper towels. Season all over with 1 teaspoon of the salt and a few grinds of pepper.

Step 3
Pan sear the mahi mahi. Heat the oil in a large cast iron skillet or nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat until just starting to smoke, 3 to 5 minutes. Add the mahi mahi and sear undisturbed until well browned on the bottom and the sides are cooked just past halfway up the fillets, about 4 minutes. Flip the fillets and continue to sear until just cooked through and the flesh flakes easily, 2 to 4 minutes more depending on the thickness of the fillets. Transfer to a serving platter.

Step 4
Add the lemon juice and garlic over medium-low heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the lemon juice, garlic, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon.

Step 5
Add the lemon slices and butter. Add the lemon slices, then stir the butter in one piece at a time, waiting until each piece is almost melted before adding the next.

Step 6
Season the sauce. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the parsley. Taste the sauce and season with more salt and pepper and needed. Pour over the mahi mahi and serve immediately.

COCKTAIL
Piña Colada (Restaurant Style!)

Ingredients
1 pound or 3 heaping cups frozen pineapple chunks
3/4 cup white rum
1 cup full fat coconut milk
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/2 tablespoon maple syrup or simple syrup (optional)
For the garnish: Drink umbrellas, toasted coconut (optional)

Instructions

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Taste and adjust the sweetness as desired.

1. Pour into glasses and garnish with drink umbrellas (required!).

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report.
