Any guesses? LOL....yeah, it's no secret....we hit ice-off at Minersville last week, and it looked like opening day up in Alaska! shoulder-to-shoulder fishermen, and this was BEFORE KSL did their piece on it. It was a balmy 20 degree when we arrived. No ice left to be seen anywhere. We found the best spots were already taken, so we accepted a small piece of shoreline and went at it. We didn't even have a sniff for the first 2 hours, just froze our aces off. But then someone in a prime location started packing up their stuff, so we slid on into their spot and it was game on! Hottest flies were black balanced leeches and orange weenies. Usual ice-off indicator set up. Fish came by in groups, as they usually do this time of year looking for a good time. Actually didn't get a pic of the biggest fish of the trip...unfortunate mishandling by a veteran fish handler during the posing process...stupid. Weather got really crazy...high winds, scattered snow flurries. We continued to catch fish off and on through it all, but finally said enough was enough, and packed it in around 3pm. All in all, I managed 15 and my bro 10 (all from 20-25"). 5 males to every 1 female, just like most bars. Heading back there tomorrow with my high school buddies. Going to be a much more pleasant day with forecasted highs of 62 degrees, so if we don't catch fish, at least we will be comfortable. I'll report back.

Thanks for the report and pics.  Nice fish!

It looks like you were rewarded for putting up with the crowd and the foul weather.

Nice fish. Sounds like everyone should take advantage of the great fishing now as low water this summer likely means this is the peak for the immediate future.

...ran back up to MVille Sun afternoon, and it did not disappoint again! Got there around 2:30pm, all the snow had melted off. Light breeze out of the North. Only a small handful of fly fishermen there, which was a nice change of pace. Got back into a cove where the wind was blowing into it, and it was game on until dark. Same usual flies fished the same usual way. Biggest difference was it was 90% females this time, which had been the opposite my times before in terms of males. The females are still holding, so should be some continued good fishing for another few weeks. Hope to get back up there this next Sat.

Those are some great trips and some nice trout. They all look fat for this time of year especially right after ice out. That place must have some good feed in there.

Weather looks nasty this Sat, but it's probably the last chance I'll get to fish it before they spawn all the way out....high winds and rain potential late in the day....HERE WE GO!!!
