Another kayak thread!

Big Grin
Well I've been using my kayak alot since I bought it just over a year ago, mostly grantsville res and utah lake quite a bit... some upgrades ive done, ive built the milk crate storage in back and attached some pvc yo have a flag... ive also put a bunch of tie down loops on it and have it to where I can drop my anchor off the front or go to shore and switch it so my anchor goes off the back, I didn't want to do the anchor trolley system, ive been doing it this way for several trips and it's awesome... may even get another anchor so I can drop it off both ends and eliminate my spinning.... anyways a few rod holders and a net holder. I built a little board thing to mount my cheap fish finder on and im going to glue a few 2" tall Gatorade bottles on it this week to use as a cup holder and for my Bluetooth speaker. Its been great and a game changer for me! May upgrade to a trolling motor soon as I have permanent back issues and the sitting and paddling is pretty hard after about 2 hrs. I also siliconed 4 of the scuddle holes off or whatever theyre called, I left 2 in the back and 2 by my feet open to drain excess water and plan on the milk crate as my fish holder for the slime to run down and out [Image: 20210425-124626.jpg] [Image: 20210425-124633.jpg] [Image: 20210425-124642.jpg] [Image: 20210425-124656.jpg] [Image: 20210425-124702.jpg] [Image: 20210425-124721.jpg] [Image: 20210425-124710.jpg] [Image: 20210425-125034.jpg]

It looks like you are having fun adding too and prepping your yak. Kinda like fly tying, always thinking how to make things a bit better.

If you get serious about a motor, I have a 30# Minn kota I used with my yak. Its a tiller.  Send me a PM if interested.

Well, as long as we're yakking here -- has anyone added pontoons to your yak? I'd like to add something simple that will give me real stability while fishing, but is easy to take apart when I don't need it (like for duck hunting shallow water)..tks..

Nice to see someone else going down the rabbit hole of kayak fishing and modifying. I also put a trolling motor on mine, partly for back issues and partly so I could troll at faster speeds for walleye and wipers. You might also look into Kayak Kushion for some added comfort, they are pricey but there might be an alternative out there. Here’s mine at Rockport on Friday you can see the cushions on the back rest and seat. This was my first outing with two and it was night and day difference.

I'm gonna be hitting grantsville looking for browns Friday if anybody wants to yak out! Seems theyre in the deep water away from all the bank tanglers.. I'll have to look into a better seat, with my back problems after about 2 hrs I gotta get out and move a little

I've never fished Grantsville, and I have Friday off. May be able to get out there, what times are you planning on?

(04-25-2021, 07:20 PM)Fritzfishin  Those are some sweet mods.  I got a kayak for fishing a couple of years ago and still haven\t modified it.  Seeing your pics gives me some motivation. Hey Fritz, I have a yak anchor I will give you. We just got to get together for the cats someday. Saturday looks good if you still have that day open.
The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.
