Fishing Report: 12/19/21 to 12/26/21

Marlin
Marlin fishing was good last week, good numbers of Striped Marlin between 80Lb to 120 Lb at the Lighthouse and Los Arcos, being caught on live bait and ballyhoo,
We caught and released 6 marlin on Sunday, 3 on Monday, 1 on Tuesday, 5 on Wednesday, 1 on Thursday, 4 on Friday and 5 yesterday.
Dorado
Few dorado but good size between 15Lb to 20 Lb caught this week at Migrino on ballyhoo and lures, we caught 6 on Sunday, 7 on Monday, 4 on Tuesday and 7 on Friday.
Tuna
We caught 4 (30-pound) tuna on Friday, more than 25 miles out, tuna has been the worst of the year, almost no reports throughout the year.
Wahoo
Few reports, we caught a 50Lb wahoo at the Lighthouse on rapalas yesterday.

WEATHER: For Cabo San Lucas in the coming two weeks the average daytime maximum temperature will be around 26°C, with a high for the two weeks of 30°C expected on the afternoon of Wednesday 5th. The mean minimum temperature will be 19°C, dipping to its lowest on the morning of Monday 3rd at 17°C. The coming 14 days will remain predominantly dry. On the whole winds are likely to be light.

BUTTER GRILLED WAHOO STEAKS
INGREDIENTS
6 Panamei Wahoo steaks
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
6 garlic cloves
1/3 cup cilantro or parsley, chopped
2 Tbsp. Cajun seafood seasoning
1 lemon, juiced
Lemon wedges to garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
Spray grill with nonstick spray or brush with vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Preheat on high for about 10 minutes.
In a blender, mix butter, oil, garlic, cilantro, lemon juice and seasoning. Puree into a smooth sauce. When ready to cook, brush both sides of fillets with sauce.
Place wahoo steaks on grill and cook, turning once or twice. Brush more sauce as needed.
Fish is done when it flakes easily (about 5 minutes). Serve with lemon wedges.
SUMMER TENTALIZER
Cucumber-Rose Gin Spritz
Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) savory gin (such as Edinburgh Seaside Gin)
1 1/2 tablespoons Cucumber, Basil, and Cardamom Syrup
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (from 1 lemon)
Ice cubes
2 tablespoons club soda
Persian cucumber strips and dried rose petals (such as Rose Dose)
Directions
Combine gin, syrup, and lemon juice in a Boston cocktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice cubes. Cover and shake vigorously until well chilled. Strain into a cognac snifter glass filled with ice cubes. Top with club soda, and garnish with cucumber strips and dried rose petals.
BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report.
