Carters Lake Report
#1
******************* Carters Lake Report *****************************
4/15/02

The lake is 1 ft over full pool and the water temp is 63 degrees.
STRIPERS: Good it's that time of year when the fish seem to be everywhere. Lots of fish are up the river for the anual spawning run andsome fish can also be found in the creeks and on the main lake.
top water action is on the increase all over the lake live baits such as shad and shinners are catching some fish on flatlines on balloons and free lines fished 80 to 100 ft behind the boat. The technique we use most this time of year is to pull these live baits behind the boat while casting topwater lures and bucktail jigs to points and humps and any
breaking fish we see.
some good catches are also being reported by night fisherman, casting 6 inch redfins up the river from ridgeway up to the shoals.

Spotted Bass: Good, the fish are staging and looking for beds.We should see spawning activity peak on The full moon this month on the 26th. .Two patterns have been working well for us this week, the best pattern for the bigger fish has been a carolina rigged Zoom lizard in pumpkin seed and chartreuse fished in the backs of the creeks. throw the rig
right up to the bank and drag it all the way back to the boat very slow,
and keep in mind that the fish will not allways be shallow, some of the spots will make there beds as deep as 20ft.

the other pattern that is working well is fishing blowdowns and submerged brush piles on red clay and sandy secondary points and pockets with a texas riged finesse worm in the baby bass or green pumpkin colors. the Ga. Mountain spinnerbait in chartreuse and white will also
catch the fish in these same area's if you get wind.

For moe info or to book a trip
contact Jeff at 770 735 2625
or visit our website at
http://www.carterslakefishing.com
