Mike I prefer to use 25-30lb test line when I throw a jig and usually the Barracuda arent line shy so the heavier line is nice for those sharp teeth. What ever you use dont forget to check that line everytime you get bit for those cuts. Naomi

Did someone say Cuda. You will need some of these for Cuda or Wahoo: cast, jig or troll. That jig that Steve has in the above post looks lethal. I need to work something out on this end to take the Red Devil for a spin. What would the cost be for a few of those bad-boyz at my door step. I ask on behalf of the entire board? I havn't had a chance to use the Tyger leader or Titanium. Does anyone have any front line experience? Visibilility and durability vs steel leader? I normally pack Iron Mans 1-5 in Blue/White, Blue/Chrome/Chrome/ What size hooks? What weights? That jig looks darn good. When I lived in CA I liked fishing feathers or a pump bait for cuda. I used a torpedo sinker with a short heavy mono leader (may try wire in July when I vacation there) and tied on my feather or bait hook. Cast it out and let it sink the slowly pump it back in. I think this guy would work great for this. I will order one on line before my trip, but do you have a printed catalog? I would like something I could show some friends.

Historically, in the beginning most all lures were "Barracuda Feathers". They were chome bullet-like heads that had red glass eyes or those with abalone eyes which we called Japanese types. We felt very lucky to find the abalone eye types because they caught more fish. There was also a popular feather called a hex-head. But no matter what the shape the heads were the feathers were (in order of success) red-white, blue-white and yellow-white. The feathers could not "fluff out" and had to lay straight, so we wrapped them with a section of waterproof-like paper we called "fish paper". This era was in the days of Calcutta Cane rods and braided nylon line. These lures were excellent for trolling but just as good for casting, which wasn't easy. We attached a torpedo sinker for the lighter feathers and ran off a 2 foot steel leader to the feather. When mono appeared it revolutionized the art of casting. I don't want to wear out this message but the all time great jigs were made of bone, I still use one to this day. PS Barracuda are fine eating if you blood them quickly and put them on ice and never let them get warm. JMO but I'd say the Ti leaders would be kinda overkill for this app. Crimp up a few lengths of Sevalon and go get 'em. My biggest problem with 'cudas has always been how to keep them OFF my line! Big Grin
