"The Maine Sportsman", is a monthly newspaper, that covers all aspects of the outdoors for Maine Residents, and visiting Outdoors people, that enjoy what Maine has to offer, from fishing to hunting, to trapping, etc. Boating and Kayaking as well are included. Advertisers include guide services, and and vendors of bait, supplies, lodging, etc. It is very well written, and the different sports, mainly hunting and fishing, are broken down by county and areas, as to what is going on, and where it is happening. It costs approximately $ 3.00 and change, but is well worth it if you are planning a trip to Maine to hunt or fish. It is available in many stores and at almost all bait and tackle shops, as well as sporting good suppliers, and bookstores. One of the editors, a Mr. Harry Vanderwilde, also has a television show that is seen on the Outdoor Channel on cable, "Northeast Outdoors", produced by Ursus Productions. Come on up to Maine, and see how life should be. We have Saltwater fishing, Freshwater Fishing, and Hunting, as well as a lot more to offer.

Hello again,

Back to add some more info to this thread.

- First of all, I need to make a couple of corrections. Mr. Vanderweide's name was spelled incorrectly. It is spelled correctly in this piece. Also, the price of "The Maine Sportsman", is presently $ 2.25. They also now have a website, where you can find vast amounts of information for Maine, and the Northeast, including New England and Quebec, Canada. The website address is: http://www.mainesportsman.com. Their out-of-state phone number and fax # is: Tel: 207-846-9501, and Fax: 207-846-1434.

In reference to your request as to whether or not I have any past issue's that I might like to part with, the answer is yes, and I will dig them out of storage and I will make arrangements to send you out a few. As a side bar, today, since I did not have Kidney Dialysis, I went down to the Kennebec River at the Gardiner boat landing and fished for about 2 hours, and caught 3 smallmouth bass, and 2 brown trout. Pretty good for a day where the water temps are still in the 40's and a cold front was getting ready to blow through. Old man winter hasn't released his grip on us yet, as we have had snow 3 times in the past week, even though it is not lingering around.

Have a great day, and tight lines.

"Striper Maine-iac"
