HTML in posts
#1
It seems to me that I cannot use HTML in my posts. I have my preferences set to use Markup AND HTML.

If I try something like the following for example:

<img src="[Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=3736;]">

It doesn't work.

If I try this:

<a href="http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=3736;">My link</a>

I can do the very same thing in an html file and it will display fine in my browser. So what do I have to do for it to work in a post?

It doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

Hey cat man, The magic words or phrases are putting your link inbetween these types of brackets with these words just like you see them.

[ ] around the word img to start then end the string with [/] using the img after the forward slash. I cannot write it out exactly or it will make a picture symbol.

That is the general parameters.

[Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=3736;]if you are going to use html then swich to the advanced editor. if you are going to use mark up swich to basic editor. (when using mark up not all markup programs are the same. be sure you read the FAQ page to see how to write the bft brand of markup.

using the greater signs and asterics will not allow your html to work. to see what I mean right click on the pic you tried to post then click properties and look at the url adddress.

to post a picture using html do one of the following eather copy the picture and paist in your post or click on the little box in the post window that looks like a picture frame. then paist the url address in the little popup.

I have always been using the advanced editor. I've also always set it to use markup AND html. Oh well, I got it now. I never knew you could use the little picture icon either. That's much easier and faster than using:

[image] <url here> [/image

]

Thanks to both of you for your help!
