Fantastic fishing in Sheboygan has arrived! After we finally received a couple days of stable weather and light winds we decided to give the lake a try. We set up in 15 feet and put out ski boards with a variety of stick baits and spoons. Before we could get all the lines set we boated our first brown trout on an orange spoon. We worked our way between 7 and 20 feet of water in search of more fish. We landed 3 more brown trout until we found a very active school of lake trout. They were in a small area in about 12 feet of water. Each time we passed through this area we picked up several hits. We ended up boating 8 lake trout and 4 brown trout in 2 ½ hours. The best set up was orange spoons off the ski boards. The fishing was so good that on our last pass through we ended with a triple-header of lake trout. This exciting near shore spring action should last until mid May before the lake starts warming and fish move deeper.
