Depending on what you're looking for, Sam's club has the 9' Trout unlimited for $314 in the stores or $340 online. I haven't seen any great deals online lately.

[cool][blue]Hey son, you did not get specific as far as the make, model, size, budget or whatever. Don't know how much homework you have done on availability and features, and how they affect the price. There are quite a few things to consider.[/blue]

[#0000ff]Good advice is to shop locally and "kick some tires". Get familiar with sizes and features...and prices. Then go online and see if you can beat the local prices. In many cases you can find good prices and free shipping through some of the online suppliers.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Of course there is Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops. There are a couple of other sources I have used, or I am at least familiar with. I will add the links at the end.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am sure you want to get on the water soon. This is some of the best fishing time, right after iceout.[/#0000ff]

Thanks for the info,

This will be my first toon. I do not want a tube because I would rather ride on the water. I fish the popular, easy access bodies of water so packing out is not an issue. I would prefer something with a swivel seat and adjustable footrests so I can set it up for a comfortable day on the water. I do not plan on a trolling motor, rowing is fine for me. soft storage deck is also fine, less weight. Intregal anchor system would also be something I could use but making one is still an option for me. Rod holders and fishfinder setup, well, I have seen what others on this board have done and feel that I could STEEL your ideas to make something for myself. As far as price goes, I have priced some out locally from 299 to 599 that are really nice. Sportsmans and Garts run some sales on them every now and then. I think I want to find a used one that someone is upgrading from or just not useing anymore in hopes of getting my feet wet a little before I shell out the big bucks for a quality toon.

[cool][blue]Good thinking. Water toys are like computers. If you look around, you can always find someone who is upgrading and who has a good deal on lightly used gear. [/blue]

[#0000ff]Get something as close as possible to what you think you want or need. Then, keep an open mind and be in touch with what is going on each trip. You will likely find that some features are essential, while others are really not that important.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Then, if you are like most of us, one day you will see the ULTIMATE toy and you will not be the same until you own it. So what if it means sleeping in the garage and missing meals...or eating with the dog? A guy's gotta have what a guy's gotta have.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Good luck in your search. One of the obvious suggestions...if you have not already done so...is to post on the local boards and in the buy and sell board.[/#0000ff]
