Its oficial Ma & Pa's 4-H fishing derby is a go. at Proud lake Recreation's Powers Beach in Milford Michigan. it is a free derby for kids escorted with a parent or gaurdian. a state park daly ($4) sticker, or a state park yearly ($20) sticker is required for each vehical to enter the park. the derby will be held on the 8th of june there is another 4-H derby going on the 9th of june in davisburg Michigan. the 8th and 9th of june is a free fishing weekend for michigan. for more information and aplications for either event just log on to see what the kids are up to below. <A HREF="http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/MESS6438/" target="_new">http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/MESS6438/</A> Lookie See what the kids are up to. To day we had our first-H fishing derby in Oakland County of the year, This was a closed event for handy caped/educationally challenged children and their families. It was cold but dry and sunny. Only one fish was caught for the day, it was 8 and 1/2inch Warmouth Bass caught by a 13 year old girl.. They had a great time with shirt painting and casting contest and fishing. I spent most of my time fixing broken reels and setups. I want to give Dwight (ssor) a special thanks for the best gift of all, he and his mom drove over 300 miles (one way) over night to join us at this event to personally donate and deliver a new computer for a grand door prize. Dave, First of all I would like to thank you and all for a day of memories and happy tears that will never be forgoten. It was a great experionce for all that attended. As the day went on the wind slowed and the bright sun helped all feal great. I truly enjoyed the chance to talk with and get to know the kids. It was hard for me to keep up with all the events but the kids had a great time and that is what counts. You do have one error in your post on the count of fish caught. Just before I got my camera packed away for the trip home there was a second fish caught and I did catch an image on my camera. Will post pic's of both to this thred after I get them downloaded. Meeting you in person was a true joy. I hope it will happen again soon. Your precision work on the geer for the kids is to be admired as you kept up with the steady flow of tangled lines and reel jams and an ocasional broken gear. Every one that was involved with this event is truly a winner of memorys and a learning experionce. I developed friendships and memorys that will be with me for a lifetime and for that I thankyou.[ Smile
